Products We Use
Fine lines and superficial wrinkles have been a challenge to doctors for some time. Wouldn’t it be a relief to have a nice easy filler that takes on those little lines and makes them GONE? Well, we have that for you now. New Belotero offers a long lasting replacement solution to the previous fine-line collagens that we loved but are no longer available. Belotero was developed by Anteis (Switzerland) in 2005 – with all the Swiss precision technology the world has come to rely on!
What’s so “different” about Belotero?
Perfected for fine lines. The formulation is easily the most versatile hyaluronic gel for fine lines – and may become an equal competitor to the existing other HA gels for lip augmentation. Certainly it will be very useful for perioral lines (the vertical lines around the mouth) and small lines around the eyes that may not be treatable with a relaxer. Even the horizontal lines on the neck that seem to shout “old” are on the map with Belotero.
It’s easy to layer. The technology of Belotero makes it a perfect “top layer” filler to be placed over deeper fillers such as Radiesse or Perlane or Juvederm Ultra. These denser gels can provide instant volume while the Belotero can add the finesse to soften superficial wrinkles.
It doesn’t shout. If you have previously been treated with a dermal filler you will be surprised by the subtlety of the area treated with Belotero. Unlike other fillers, you are unlikely to feel the gel in the skin, but will certainly see the results. This makes it especially useful for patients who have delicate or thin skin.
How long does Belotero last?
The effect will depend on the individual and the area that has been treated. In clinical studies 66% of patients continued to show a visible improvement 9 months after a single treatment. As with other hyaluronic gels, a touch up treatment at 6 to 9 months helps maintain consistent effects.
Botox®, or botulinum toxin, is the most popular way to reduce wrinkles on the face other than undergoing a facelift. This noninvasive procedure can smooth out frown lines, crow’s feet, furrows along the forehead, and skin bands on the neck to help you look more refreshed and less tired.
Performed in a simple, quick, in-office procedure, injections of Botox® Cosmetic block the nerve signals that make your muscles contract. This temporarily relaxes the muscles and thereby smoothes out your unwanted facial wrinkles.
What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time (temporary).
BOTOX® Cosmetic is administered by a healthcare professional as a simple, nonsurgical treatment that is injected directly into the muscles between the brows. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form between the brows. Individual results may vary.
How long does BOTOX® Cosmetic last?
Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months. Your own results may vary – be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about what you can expect and when to schedule your next appointment.
What are the possible side effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic?
Side effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic include:
Discomfort or pain at the injection site
Eye problems such as double vision, blurred vision, decreased eyesight, drooping eyelids, swelling of your eyelids, and dry eyes allergic reactions; symptoms of an allergic reaction to BOTOX® or BOTOX® Cosmetic may include: itching, rash, red itchy welts, wheezing, asthma symptoms, or dizziness or feeling faint. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you are wheezing or have asthma symptoms, or if you become dizzy or faint.
Tell your doctor if you have any side effect that bothers you or that does not go away.
Will I still be able to make facial expressions?
Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you’ve “had work done.” The muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows is temporarily reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.
As our skin loses its fullness over time, JUVÉDERM® is an excellent treatment option that temporarily restores volume to correct facial wrinkles, deep folds, facial lines, enhance the lips, and reshape facial contours. JUVÉDERM®, a clear gel-like substance, is injected into the area to be treated and can be smoothed or sculpted after the injection to achieve a more natural appearance.
Through a unique manufacturing process, JUVÉDERM® provides the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid. With results lasting up to a full year after one treatment, JUVÉDERM® lasts longer than any other hyaluronic acid dermal filler currently available. JUVÉDERM® Ultra provides versatility in volume and contouring facial wrinkles while JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus is a stronger formulation for correcting deeper folds.
JUVÉDERM® treatments are relatively pain-free as a topical numbing cream is often applied to the area prior to the injection. The process takes approximately 30 minutes and the results are immediate. With minimal recovery, side effects are rare but may include minor bruising or swelling and some treatments may be performed with topical or injected local anesthesia. Since JUVÉDERM® is made of the same hyaluronic acid found in our bodies, allergic reactions are rare and normal activities can be resumed as soon as the treatment is completed.
What is JUVÉDERM® XC indicated for?
JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC injectable gels are indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis (below the outer layer of skin) for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the creases running from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth, aka smile lines or parentheses) and marionette lines (lines running from the corners of your mouth down either side of the chin).
What are the possible side effects of JUVÉDERM® XC injectable gel?
Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injections site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures there is a risk of infection.
Can people with different skin tones/colors be treated with JUVÉDERM®?
Yes. In fact, JUVÉDERM® injectable gel is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has proven its safety and effectiveness in persons of color. Studies with JUVÉDERM® showed no increased risk of hyperpigmentation or hypertrophic scarring in patients of color.
Collagen is what gives volume, flexibility and strength to healthy, young skin. As a part of the aging process, your own natural collagen breaks down, diminishing facial volume and elasticity. This loss of elasticity and volume results in wrinkles, facial lines and skin laxity – all of which rob your skin of its youthful, fresh appearance.
Ideal wrinkle reduction is achieved by replenishing your skin’s lost volume. Upon injection, RADIESSE® Volumizing Filler immediately provides the volume and lift needed to diminish the signs of aging because of the calcium-based microspheres and gel that comprise the product. But what’s unique about RADIESSE Volumizing Filler is that it acts as a scaffold under the skin, providing structure and stimulating your own natural collagen to grow. This process continues for several months, which extends the initial effect of RADIESSE Volumizing Filler. Best of all, the natural results are clinically proven to last a year or more!
What is RADIESSE® Volumizing Filler?
RADIESSE Volumizing Filler is an injectable facial filler that works by immediately restoring facial volume to smooth out the signs of aging. Once injected, it works with your body to stimulate the production of your own natural collagen for results that may last a year or more in many patients.
What is the difference between RADIESSE Volumizing Filler and other fillers?
RADIESSE Volumizing Filler has the unique ability to both immediately restore lost volume and stimulate your body to produce its own natural collagen for long-lasting results.
How does it work?
Once injected, RADIESSE Volumizing Filler does exactly as it says: it fills or replenishes volume lost over time for a more refreshed looking you. Then it goes to work by stimulating your body to produce its own natural collagen. Over time, your body absorbs the product and leaves behind only your own natural collagen for long-lasting results.
What is it made of?
RADIESSE Volumizing Filler is made of tiny calcium-based microspheres which are suspended in a natural, water-based gel. These calcium based microspheres are similar to minerals that are found naturally in your body so allergy testing is not required. Over time, your body absorbs these tiny microspheres and the gel and leaves behind only your own natural collagen.
How is the treatment performed?
RADIESSE Volumizing Filler is injected into the skin in a simple, safe, quick procedure that can even be done over your lunch hour.
Is it safe and are there side effects?
RADIESSE Volumizing Filler is FDA approved, and has undergone rigorous testing in clinical studies to prove its safety. As with all filler treatments, patients may experience redness, bruising, swelling or other local side effects. Most side effects of treatment resolve within a few days. More rare side effects may include swelling that lasts longer, unevenness or firmness in the area injected, and as with any injection, there may be a risk of infection.
How long is the recovery time?
There is very little to no down-time involved in a RADIESSE Volumizing Filler procedure. In fact, most patients return to their normal, daily activities right after their visit. Every patient is unique, so be sure to discuss your plans with a healthcare provider.
Xeomin is the newest “wrinkle smoother” available to patients across the country. Pronounced zee-oh-min, the new product acts like its predecessors Botox and Dysport in reducing or preventing contractions of the glabellar muscle between the eyes, frown lines on the forehead and minimizing “crow’s feet” around the eyes.
How is Xeomin different from Botox or Dysport?
The difference in Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) is that it does not carry the proteins that are typical of the other products. The potential advantage lies in the lessened likelihood of antibodies being formed to the proteins which – for a very limited number of patients – can render the product ineffective. (This typically is only seen in patients who have used botulinum toxin for an extended period of time.) Younger patients may desire Xeomin because of this “purer” form of toxin which may allow them to receive injections over their lifetime with less long-term resistance.
How is Xeomin similar to Botox or Dysport?
The muscle-restricting action is, for all practical purposes, like Botox and Dysport and the dosing will be the same as Botox. So if you’re accustomed to 20 units of Botox, expect to receive 20 units of Xeomin for the same effect and area.
Why would I choose Xeomin over the injectables already available for a longer period of time?
At the introduction of Xeomin, the manufacturer priced the product a bit lower, so price could be one reason. It’s slightly quicker effect could be another. Which to choose is doctor/ patient preference and injection location. We just want you to look good.
How fast does Xeomin work?
Xeomin takes effect within 2-3 days after injection with effectiveness ranging up to 4 months.
FDA Approval of Xeomin
The FDA approval of XEOMIN is based on the results of two pivotal U.S. clinical trials involving 16 investigational sites and included 547 healthy adult patients. In both studies, XEOMIN significantly improved the appearance of glabellar lines 30 days following the first injection, when compared to placebo. XEOMIN is the only botulinum toxin currently approved in the U.S. that does not require refrigeration prior to reconstitution.
